Ready To Wear - NYFW 2016

12:00 AM

First things first, I want to take a moment to recognize the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on our country. I'd like to acknowledge the lives lost, the lives pushing through their pain and to continue to remember those that have served and are currently serving our country and fighting for our safety and freedom. You are our heart and soul and without you we are not complete. Thank you for your service.

Thank You

Hot off the press; New York Fashion Week 2016! As some of you know and some of you may not, fall collections are always debuted the season before. Originally most of these looks were first shown in February 2016 and now they're Ready To Wear

The first designer that really caught my eye this season is Proenza Shouler's collection. I have to admit, showcasing the model's with fresh faces and sleek parted hair helped the clothing really stand out. Im more of a naturalist to begin with so classic and clean is always a stand-out in my book.

Proenza Schouler

I am the ultimate nerd and have always really loved turtlenecks. Not the frumpy kind but the high-class, sleek-sexy kind. Wearing a thin knit turtleneck and pulling that hair back will show off your bone-structure and really highlight and elongate your upper body. Shown in the first two pictures, modern lace ups are HUGE this season and have already hit the racks! The bottom two pictures are trendsetting! High neck, swing skirts and dresses with slits all while strutting in tall boots!  Check out some cool affordable options below! P.S. Im seriously loving this inventive way to carry your shoulder bag. Tucked under the arm, it almost looks like a clutch.

Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger has always been about that All American Girl look. I always find a designer's vision to be a capturing moment. How difficult must it be to visualize an entire collection, continue the vision of your brand while maintaining a trendsetting image? It's quite extraordinary. For a girl like me that has been wearing Tommy Hilfiger since she was a kid, I'd know who this designer collection was made for. Ralph Lauren is another classic american brand that has effortlessly reinvented themselves year after year.

For this season's collection, I am really enjoying Tommy Hilfiger's effort towards the classic piece. Im always talking about investing in quality clothing and looking for those staple pieces that you'll wear for years. TH is a fantastic brand to invest in! You'll always have a killer silhouette, well tailored pieces, and classic designs.

Become a Tommy Girl with these affordable pieces;
Zara Military Style Jacket $99
Zara Double Zip Legging $30
Trench Coat $50
Urban Outfitters Kimchi Dress $70
Lala Paza Bandana Choker $5
Poshmark Vintage Bandana Choker $13

Coach

Admittedly I was rather impressed with Coach's lead to step out of their stirrups and twist their brand into a fashion spotlit brand. As mentioned previously in my Fall Wish List post; embroidered details are making a huge statement this season! From embroidered tops, to jackets and dresses down to the skirts. Be at the front of the style and invest in a piece! Im also really enjoying this movement in mixing sporty and romantic looks. The first photo in this collection makes me think of this modern 1950s young woman thats proud to wear her man's (or womans) oversized varsity letter jacket with her flirty patterned skirt. I love the mixing of masculine and feminine silhouettes!

I am also especially fond of the match-matchy sets and the pairing of some serious pattern on pattern. As a reminder, you CAN mix loud patterns together. This reason the look in photo 2 works is because the colors are the same. If you want to mix different patterns then coordinate colors together. I've set up a look for you below to get your creativity juices going!

ASOS Bomber Jacket $80
Zara Printed Dress $70
Zara Embroidered Dress $130
Zara Flowy Printed Skirt $50
Forever21 Plaid Blouse $20
(I recommend pairing the Zara flowy printed skirt with the forever21 plaid blouse for a replica look of Coach's second photo (above) look.)

Happy Shopping!
