Throwback 90

We ALL thought the 90's were an era of the past but like most iconic times it came back and with some serious heat! We are taking a long walk down memory lane for all you that actually REMEMBER the 90's because you were there to experience it!

For all you youngsters out there, I'm sure Selena Gomez's colored lens sunglasses may seem like the coolest new trend. In actuality, this is a signature look from the 90s! You know, that grungy, funk era with the over sized proportions, midriff bearing silhouettes, and graphic t-shirts. Pictured next to Selena are the twins that made the colored lens' cool, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen! Who else had like ALL their mystery detective videos? As did Taylor Swift, I was born in the late 80's and had the joy of experiencing all these trends first hand!

One trend I remember quite well is the obsession with Tommy Hilfiger! Being a #tommygirl was the "cool" thing to do. If you wore Tommy Hilfiger you were all that and a bag of potato chips! We saw this brand everywhere and he made the colors of the flag his signature look and incorporated it with all of his merchandise. How brilliant to use the symbol of our Freedom to create brand recognition.

Someone, not entirely sure who to blame... thought the oversized proportions and rough heavy materials would be flattering. That leads us to the slouchy denim on denim! This CAN be a cute look, but not to go overboard. (Who remembers Britney and Justin showing up to the VMA's in those coordinating head to toe denim outfits? BARF!)

The bearing midriff is B-A-C-K! Crop tops were all the rage and they're coming back full force this Winter and into Spring 2017! This trend is everywhere, from formal attire to casual wear. I've always been a fan of the look however I am someone self conscious about my middle section to wear full midriff bearing attire but will wear the trend with a high waisted skirt to still acquire the look! Always make fashion and the latest trends work for you! |

Does anyone remember the show All That? This show was on Nickelodeon and consisted of skits from several different cast members on topics popular to kids of the 90s. This next trend I remember being universally worn by both male and females of the era. Can you guess what look that is? OVERALLS! This isn't the first time we have recently seen overalls make a comeback but this time its major. Lets just say, Sarah slayed this look in the 90's and Selena proved the trend is currently
Good For You.

Last but NEVER least. My final and favorite flashback trend of the 90's is one I commonly practiced. Mostly due to weather restrictions or dress code rules at my school this style was the bomb for all age groups. The t-shirt camisole layered look. This way you could show off the entire lace trimmed camisole without having to cover part of it with a jacket or sweater but still made it school appropriate. You can achieve this look with either a spaghetti strap slip dress or a traditional tank top worn overtop your favorite t-shirt. Check out these ideas below!
