For anyone unfamiliar with my love for Halloween, this post is the testament to my statement. October has long been my favorite month and what better way to say sayonara than to end the month with a candy filled holiday? Above Christmas, my birthday and even Thanksgiving! I am not one for Horror or gory films but I love the "supernatural" and "fantasy" themed entertainment.
This post is all about SOME of my favorite October and Halloween activities!
Meet Jack Skellington, from Tim Burton's most famous animated movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas! What better way to spend the holidays than to mimic Jack's bone-chilling appearance?
Meet Sally! Sally is Jack Skellington's counterpart in The Nightmare Before Christmas. If you're more interested in channeling her corpse appearance this might be a better look to go with!
For my final look, ever think of becoming Twilight's Bella Swan after she's morphed into a Vampire? Vampires have long been a thing with adolescents and this could be your way of bringing back the life to our generation's favorite vampire!
First: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter your doughnut pan wells. Then, In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and whisk until well mixed and set aside.

Halloween has never just been about getting dressed up in a costume and running around your neighborhood collecting sweet treats. I love to get into the whole spirit of Halloween throughout the entire month of October. As it gets darker earlier in the evenings and cooler outside, I love to curl up on my couch and cuddle with Matty to watch some spooky movies. The movies above are some of my favorites! (Obvious throwbacks!)
Grand Finale! A tasty treat for pumpkin admirers! Surprisingly I am not a fan of pumpkin pie. Im not entirely sure if its the texture or consistency but I just don't really care for it. However, I LOVE pumpkin spiced latte's from Starbucks, pumpkin muffins and PUMPKIN DONUTS! (Baked not fried)!
What you'll need
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon (freshly ground is best)
1/4 tsp nutmeg (freshly ground is best)
1/4 tsp ginger (freshly ground is best)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
1/2 cup canola oil
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin puree
1 tsp vanilla extract
Coating
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 1/4 tsp cinnamon (freshly ground is best)
First: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter your doughnut pan wells. Then, In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and whisk until well mixed and set aside.
Second: Use another mixing bowl and combine granulated sugar and light brown sugar. Whisk together and make sure all clumps are broken up. (You might have to use your fingers). Then add pumpkin puree, eggs, vanilla extract and canola oil. Blend well with a whisk for a few minutes (or until smoothly blended).
Third: Combine both the dry and wet ingredients together and blend with an electric mixer or with a whisk for a serious arm workout (like I did). Mix until smooth.
Fourth: Grab your buttered doughnut wells and fill each with about 1/4 of a cup of batter and bake for 12-15 minutes. Make sure to check each doughnut with a toothpick before removing. Once the toothpick comes out clean and not cakey, they're done!
Fifth: Remove each doughnut from the well and move to a cooling rack (you don't want them breaking apart). Once cool, toss each doughnut in a bowl with 1/3 cup sugar and 1 tsp. of cinnamon and coat generously.
